Company Policies
This policy sets out the arrangements, rules and procedures in relation to taking time off work, including but not limited to the taking of annual holiday entitlement. It applies to all employees of developers Job at all levels and grades. This includes full-time, part-time, permanent and fixed term employees.
The Leave Entitlement policy does not form part of your contract of employment, and the Company reserves the right to amend it at any time.
Paid annual leave entitlement
The Company’s holiday year runs from 1 January to 31 December. Unless your contract of employment states otherwise, you are entitled to take 30 days of paid holiday in each complete holiday year, plus the usual public holidays.
If you are part-time, your entitlement will be the pro rata equivalent of the above - the actual amount will be detailed in your contract of employment. Similarly, if you are employed on a fixed term basis, your leave entitlement will be proportionate to your length of contract.
If you have not taken your full annual leave entitlement within the holiday year in which it accrued, your line manager may, at their full discretion, allow you to carry forward up to of holiday to the following holiday year. This should be taken in the first 1 months of the new holiday year, or it will be forfeited.
With the exception of calculating termination payments, the Company does not pay in lieu of untaken holiday entitlement.
Taking annual leave
Approval for holiday requests is subject to the discretion and agreement of your manager. You may be asked to change your requested dates if too many people have already asked for that time off, or if your absence will be to the detriment to the Company at that particular time. You should not make travel bookings until approval has been given.
Please give as much notice as possible of holiday requests. At a minimum we require you to give the Company weeks' notice, so that we can plan for your absence.
The maximum amount of holiday normally allowed to be taken at any one time is working days. The granting of holidays in excess of this amount will be at the discretion of your manager, and may be refused if the request will cause inconvenience to your team or to the Company.
If you wish to take certain days off for religious reasons, these should be taken as part of your holiday entitlement. Please book off these days well in advance and in the usual way.
You are not entitled to take unaccrued holiday in your probationary period, unless the holiday had already been booked before you joined the Company.
We may require you to take (or not to take) holiday on particular dates, for example when the business is closed or particularly busy.
